Blasted Wordpress!

Post by drmoss_ca »

WP software is installed by default on our server by the hosting company. Once again it updated last night and wiped out our phpBB forum site, such that cllforum.org just points to a blank page as no WP site is installed. I deleted all the wordpress files I could find, but couldn't make the URL point back at our index page, but a helpful rep from Bluehost quickly fixed it. She says she has applied a 'permanent fix' but we'll see.
Anyway, the site has been down for about 13 hours and for that I apologise. Normal service will now resume.

Kudos for you vigilance, Chris! It's reassuring that you're able to detect and then fix site abnormalities. Cheers!

Hi guys--Yeah, I had a little trouble last night--but was able to find work-arounds by going to a different--what? title? Post? Whatever you call the choices that come up when I put in CLL forum. I obviously don't know what the official name is... But I was able to read and post that way...

Thanks Chris! As a person who spent more time reading medieval manuscripts and heavily annotated texts and footnotes, I'm so far behind with the tech revolution and I'm so grateful for your efforts keeping this forum available! Hope you didn't lose sleep over this. Looks great and works great today!

Best wishes,
Anne

Thanks Chris, since I'm not on here regularly....and just a reminder for those of you who would like to share your appreciation with Chris, we are still trying to pay off the costs of the site that Chris paid for, so donations are warmly welcomed!

Thank you, Vicky. I see the Paypal button has disappeared from the bottom of the page! Maybe Jen, who set that part up is working on it some more.

Well, if we don't have a button you can always use my e-mail address for Paypal: chris AT drmoss.ca (no spaces).
